Spotify launches Desktop Miniplayer, a small desktop player for Premium users
Spotify has announced a highly sought-after feature: a mini desktop player that lets users enjoy more accessible, less intrusive music. This tool allows you to manage music playback without having to fiddle with the full Spotify app, making it easy to do other tasks on your computer while enjoying your favorite music.
With the small, adjustable size player, you can change songs, select different playlists and adjust the volume, all from a floating window that can be adjusted whenever you want.

This window can adopt a square aspect ratio, intended for displaying music videos, or become a narrower bar that reduces its presence on the screen without sacrificing access to basic controls like play/pause and skipping tracks. Additionally, it displays information about the currently playing track, such as the title, artist, and album art.
Users have been asking for this player for years, and until now they were managing it using third-party apps like Lofi Spotify Mini Player and SpotMenu. But finally, the company listened to the community. At the same time, this launch is on par with other competing services, such as Apple Music, which has already offered similar functionality in its apps for macOS and Windows.

Once you click on it, the mini launcher will appear floating next to the main application window. Once inside the mini player, you can tap on the artist name, song title, or album art to open the main Spotify app and get more information about the track you're listening to.
The negative part? It is currently only available to users with a Premium subscription (students €6 per month; other users €11 per month). As for the rest of the users, they will have to wait, if it is available at all, since the company has not provided any information about it.
