This is how you can find out who doesn't like your YouTube videos

As a creator who posts videos on YouTube, one of the most annoying things that can happen to you is that your videos receive dislikes.  If you are tired of the audience disapproving your videos, and you think that it is not a coincidence, this way you can find out who hates your videos on YouTube.

Of course, the dislike button, as some call it, isn't exactly a bad tool but it can help.  For example, to know your audience better.  However, there are many cases of content creators who reported that after posting videos that were several minutes long, they got dislikes just a few seconds after posting.

This usually leads to the belief that there is a joint action by someone, with the intention of diminishing the value of the videos.  If we add to this that YouTube disabled the dislike button counter some time ago, you might be eager to get information about the dislikes of your videos.  Don't worry, here's some data.

Why did YouTube disable the dislike button counter?

You may have noticed that YouTube has disabled the dislike button counter.  Their goal or purpose, as they explained, was to give content creators pointers on which videos they liked the most without them ending up frustrated if their number of dislikes was greater than the number of likes.  On the other hand, this way they avoid campaigns against content creators.

When a dislike number on a video is visible, it can give users a bad prior impression of the content.  Therefore, by hiding the number of downvotes, they are expected to watch the video and have their own opinion and not allow themselves to be “infected” by others.  It is an action that makes a lot of sense.

  Check your channel analytics

Even though YouTube doesn't show people who disliked a video, it still stores interesting information.  In YouTube Studio, you must enable metrics related to the Dislike button to see that information.  You'll be able to view the total number of dislikes as a graphical representation of its evolution over time.

Open YouTube and click on your profile icon in the upper right corner

Expand Analysis in the left sidebar and click Advanced mode

Click Views by... to customize the metrics

Expand the More Metrics menu and select Dislike from Reactions

From that point on, you'll be able to see a dislike graph with additional information

Consider the percentage of likes and dislikes

YouTube likes and dislikes ratio is another trick to measure video performance.  Basically, this ratio will show you the ratio obtained by dividing likes by dislikes.

Click on Content in the left sidebar

Look at the "Like" column on the right.

Hover over the percentage of likes to see the relationship with dislikes

  Pay attention to the comments

The comments will give you clues about who you didn't like.  If someone leaves a negative comment on your video, they likely took the time to dislike it.  There is not much to do in this case.

Reset the dislike counter on YouTube videos

If your idea is to reset the dislike counter that YouTube removed from your videos, you can do that easily.  We have a browser extension compatible with Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Brave, etc., called "Return YouTube Dislike", which when installed returns the dislike counter for YouTube videos.

  Return dislikes on YouTube

You can download it for many of the most popular browsers through this link.

  To consider

You never know who doesn't like your YouTube video.  YouTube protects this data and will not show you information about who or who doesn't like your videos.  The creator of a video you don't like will not be informed, as the creator cannot see which users have clicked the "Dislike" button on the videos they post.

If you don't like a video, YouTube will interpret that you don't like the content.  They will stop recommending you.

  What are the conclusions?

YouTube does not, and will not in the near future, offer a way to find out who doesn't like what we do in our videos.  However, there is a program like Return YouTube Dislike, or YouTube Studio itself, thanks to which you can recover details about the number of dislikes of your video.
