This is how you can install Android 15 preview

Big G has just released the second developer preview of Android 15, an update that significantly improves the performance of that first experience with this new version.  If you consider yourself a fan of Google's mobile operating system, and don't want to wait any longer, this is how you can install Android 15 preview.

From what Google itself hinted at, this update focuses on security and privacy, which also allows developers - and thus users - to make better use of the camera hardware, enjoying more processing power for more efficient performance and more uncertain advantages.

What should you know before installing Android 15 preview?

This update is designed for developers 👨‍💻!  If you're not one, it's best to wait for a stable update.  Only app developers who want to work on their software should install this update.

Just because the preview is for developers doesn't mean you can't or shouldn't download Android 15 now.  As long as you're aware of the limitations of the developer preview, which may include bugs, missing features, and app incompatibility, you can proceed with installing it.

Which phones support Android 15 Developer Preview?

Google usually releases early previews to developers using their smartphones.  Clearly this is not the exception.  You can install it if you are using any of the following Google Pixel phones:

(1)  Pixel 6

(2)  Pixel 6 Pro

 (3) pixel 7

 (4)  Pixel 7 Pro

  (5) Pixel 8

  (6) Pixel 8 Pro

Additionally, the Pixel Fold and Pixel Tablet are also compatible.  As the year progresses, he will likely be freed up for other teams as well.  Ultimately, by the time Android 15 settles in, it will cover all devices.

What will the preview update schedule be?

In April, we should receive the first beta of Android 15

The betas planned for early users in April and May should be more stable and will focus on quality and compatibility improvements.  At least that's what Google has been reporting in recent weeks.

How to install Android 15 preview step by step?

Before installing Android 15, make a backup of your Android phone to avoid potential problems.  Basically, go to Settings, then Google, then Backup, then tap Back Up Now.  When you have more than one Pixel phone, try installing these non-final builds on the second one.

Enable USB debugging and OEM unlocking

To install Android 15 on a Pixel phone, you need to connect the phone to your computer via USB.  Your Pixel device must be unlocked and you must enable USB debugging.  First you should open developer options.

In Settings, go to “About Phone” and tap “Build Number” seven times

Enter your password when prompted and wait for a new menu to appear

Update developer preview with Android Flash

The easiest way to install Android 15 on your mobile phone is by using the Android Flash tool in any browser.  You should have 10 GB of free storage space on your computer, ideally to run it directly in Google Chrome.

Click Get Started and then Allow Access to ABD in the pop-up window

Next, click Add New Device and select your device from the list

Tap Connect, and on your Pixel device, tap the box next to “Always allow from...”

Click "Start" on your computer to begin the bootloader unlocking process

On your Pixel phone, tap any button and then select “Unlock Bootloader”

The Android 15 software will be automatically downloaded to your mobile phone.  It weighs about 2.5 GB, so it will take some time depending on the power of the smartphone's processor and the speed of your Internet connection.

Once the download is complete, you should lock the bootloader on your smartphone again just in case.

Click Start on your computer and Pixel, then click any button and select Lock Bootloader

Your mobile phone will reboot and the developer preview should start playing from then on

Disconnect your Pixel from your computer.  In the future, it should only be updated to new versions

You can now run Android 15 on your Pixel phone

If all goes well, you'll see a notification telling you that you're running the developer preview.  Make sure this was your intention by accepting, and configure your smartphone as you would when purchasing a new phone.

Once your Pixel phone reboots, you'll see a notification that you're now running Android 15 Developer Preview.  Connect to a WiFi network, and recover data saved in the last backup.
